Why should I use a Migration Agent?

Australian Immigration law is complex and constantly being updated and amended. There are currently more than 140 sub-classes of visas - applicants need to select and apply for a single type of visa, and are required to pay a non-refundable application fee to the Australian Government which may exceed $A2000. In order to improve your chances of success in obtaining a visa you may wish to use the services of a registered migration agent as he/she:

• has an intimate knowledge of current legislation and Government policy relating to immigration matters;
• has studied migration law and understands the legalities and what you may be entitled to, especially when determining the total number of points you may be eligible for, for the range of skilled visas;
• will examine your individual situation, and advise the most appropriate visa sub-class to apply for in order to maximise your chances of success in being granted a visa;
• can assist in completing the appropriate forms;
• can inform you what documentation you need to provide with your visa application;
• will ensure that any application presented to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) is complete and legally valid, so it will not be returned to you;
• will act as a point of contact between you and DIAC;
• is bound by the code of conduct mandated by the Migration Agents Registration Authority, which ensures clients are dealt with fairly and honestly.
